Lifelong impacts on children witnessing abuse
Of course one would expect a negative affect on children witnessing or experiencing abuse at home. Withdrawn in school, poor grades, perhaps acting out or rebelling themselves…but according to one study, boys who grow up with abuse are:
- 4x more likely to abuse in a dating relationship
- 25x more likely to commit rape as an adult
- 6x more likely to commit suicide
- 1,000x more likely to commit violent acts against their own children.
